The World Future Energy Summit is considered the premier global platform for analyzing sustainable future energy solutions, strategies and techniques. This year, it occupied 40,000 sqm, bringing together over 600 exhibitors from 44 countries. Sources from the organisation confirmed the attendance of 3,000 delegates from over 130 countries, including 100 official delegations, members of royal families, high-ranking government officials, experts, energy industry representatives and over 700 accredited members of the press. Now in its third edition, the Summit has become one of the world?s must-attend events in the industry, gathering over 23,000 visitors, 25% more than in 2009.Sun to Market Solutions was one of several Spanish participants in the World Future Energy Summit. The company had its own stand in the Spanish Pavillion, where its presentation was very well attended. Other Spanish companies present in the Pavillion included Abengoa Solar, Abener, Teyma, Solaria Energía, Sener, Torresol Energy, Acciona, Assyce Fotovoltaica, Brisban Solar, Cener, Energía Sur de Europa, Edifesa, Enalcat-Aliter Group, Ingeteam Energy, Sdem Tega, Sindar Ingeniería, Solartys, Sonkyo Energy, Talleres MAC, TGB Rodamientos and Wattpic. The Spanish firms showcased their achievements in the field, demonstrating that Spain is at the forefront of research and investment in wind and solar power. The main driving force behind these meetings is Masdar, the Emirates based group, which focuses on the commercialization and development of innovative renewable energy technologies. Companies, scientists and governments from all over the world are looking closely at Masdar City, which will house the world?s most advanced solar energy research centre, a joint venture between Masdar and MIT. The centre is expected to manage projects worth some USD 15 billion over the next five years. Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the two largest of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, are at the cutting edge of future renewable energy development. Abu Dhabi?s leadership position in the field of renewable energies was greatly reinforced in 2009 when IRENA, the International Renewable Energy Agency, decided to set up its headquarters in the emirate.
